Description published by the archive

The Deep Space Program Science Experiment (DSPSE), the first in a series of technology demonstrations by the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO) and NASA, was launched in 1994. The spacecraft, called Clementine, was expected to be 'lost and gone forever' after its brief mission, similar to the song it was named after.
