Gaspra in 3D: live position and orbit

A stony main-belt asteroid about 18 by 10 kilometres. NASA’s Galileo passed it on 29 October 1991, on its way to Jupiter: the first time a spacecraft had ever encountered an asteroid.

Gaspra is shown at its real position, computed from NASA/JPL ephemeris data. The view opens on Gaspra; you can travel in time, switch between the educational overview and the true-scale voyage, and compare it with every other body of the solar system.
